I encourage you to actually read up on what happened at the Stonewall Riots because it’s not only shocking, but it makes you realize that we as a country haven’t really come as far as it might seem sometimes.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, an event now considered to be the first actual “Pride.” What people often don’t know is that, back then, Pride wasn’t just rainbows, unicorns, and Lady Gaga-it was police checking your private parts and arresting you if you weren’t dressed according to what they found “down there.” Don't forget how far we've come and how much our fore-people have gone through to get to today.
